【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtoinducecolorchangesinsealants,aswellastheirconstituentpigments,associatedwithend-useconditions,includingtheeffectsofsunlight,moisture,andheat.Theexposuresusedinthistestmethodarenotintendedtosimulatethecolorchangeofasealantcausedbylocalizedweatheringphenomena,suchasatmosphericpollution,biologicalattack,andsaltwaterexposure.Whenconductingexposuresindevicesthatuselaboratorylightsources,itisimportanttoconsiderhowwelltheartificialtestconditionswillreproducepropertychangesandfailuremodesassociatedwithend-useenvironmentsforthesealantbeingtested.InformationontheuseandinterpretationofdatafromacceleratedexposuretestsisprovidedinASTMG151.Whenthistestmethodisusedaspartofaspecification,exactprocedure,testconditions,testdurationandevaluationtechniquemustbespecified.Resultsobtainedbetweenthetwoproceduresmayvary,becausethespectralpowerdistributionofthelightsources(fluorescentUVandxenonarc)differ.Sealantsshouldnotbecomparedtoeachotherbasedontheresultsobtainedindifferenttypesofapparatus.Thesedevicesarecapableofmatchingultravioletsolarradiationreasonablywell.However,forsealantssensitivetolongwavelengthUVandvisiblesolarradiation,theabsenceofthisradiationinthefluorescentUVapparatuscandistortcolorstabilityrankingwhencomparedtoexteriorenvironmentexposure.Note18212;RefertoPracticesG151forfullcautionaryguidanceregardinglaboratoryweatheringofnon-metallicmaterials.1.1Thistestmethoddescribeslaboratoryacceleratedweatheringproceduresusingeitherfluorescentultravioletorxenonarctestdevicesfordeterminingthecolorstabilityofbuildingconstructionsealants.1.2Colorstabilityrankingsprovidedbythesetwoproceduresmaynotagree.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Valuesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4ThereisnoequivalentISOstandardforthistestmethod.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
